Stock Toyota lower Control Arm in the front, Spidertrax links in the rear.

Toyota end versus the Spidertrax machined end. Both arms have genuine Toyota bushings pressed in.

Notice the difference in the tube thickness. Stock Toyota arms are slightly thicker than 1/8" wall and made of a mystery metal. Spidertrax links are 1/4" DOM tube.

5/8" XAM heim with Teflon mounted in the stock Toyota frame bracket. The hole needs to be drilled out to 5/8". Squirt a good amount cutting fluid on the hole and the drill bit and the bit cuts through like butter. 5/8" is a pretty good sized bit.

The complete
heim/Toyota bushings lower control arm mounted up. I used Spidertrax
Misalignment Washers
as well to get maximum movement from the heim joints. The frame
mount uses heim joints, the axle mount uses stock Toyota bushings. They
are the same length as the stock arms. If you order a set just ask for the
"Jeff Bathke 4Runner Links". The invoice will actually say
"Duplicate Jeff Bathke Links [pair]".

I found these Heim joint seals on the Internet. A bag of 10, 5/8" seals was around $17.00. It always bugged me that the heims were exposed, especially to the dry Arizona desert.

Aurora Heim with the seals installed. They should keep the joint lubed and dirt free. At this point I have beat these things pretty hard and they are doing great. The washers actually prevent the factory frame bracket from bending. I have noticed they really take a beating now and never bend, I assume this is due to the large contact area versus the small contact area of the factory bushing sleeve.
Stock Toyota Lower Control Arm: 21 1/16" center of eye to center of eye. Set the heim on your Spidertrax arm to equal the stock length first and adjust from there.

I replaced the Aurora Heim joints with Currie Enterprises "Johnny Joints" with welded on stud. The heims made clicking noises and after 1.5 years seemed like they needed to be replaced. The Johnny Joints are really nice and tight, they do not make any noise at all. They even have a system for greasing them with a hollowed out bolt and grease track in the ball. Something interesting is that even in Arizona, which has extremely mild weather and no humidity, the heims were seized in the threaded inserts.

A close up of the Johnny Joint in the Toyota frame bracket. I did have to weld in sleeves to reduce the 5/8" drilled out hole down to the 7/16" hole the Johnny Joints use. While I was at it, I built up the walls of the bracket so no spacing washers are needed, the Toyota bracket is now the perfect width for the Johnny Joint.

I added the tube ring to the side of the bracket for 2 reasons. First so the zerk does not get sheared off and second to beef up the side lip of the bracket which is prone to bending.

At this point the Johnny Joints are no longer holding up. The poly is coming apart. The joints should have lasted longer. I would look into Rubicon Express Super Flex Joints. The one rubber/one high articulation combination does not work correctly as either as the high flex joint does all the work and takes all the wear and tear. Matched ends is ideal.
The last set of lower control links you'll ever need.
